Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – Cement Plant, Malaysia

The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will provide leadership and direction to the mechanical maintenance teams in the plant.  He must closely coordinate with the Head of Department to ensure plant department goals while maintaining plant equipment, buildings, and grounds. Working as part of the Mechanical Maintenance Team, you will be responsible for maintaining high quality mechanical installations, repairs and maintenance to one of our plants located in peninsular Malaysia (Bahau, Negeri Sembilan & Perlis Plant). You will play a key role in planning and completing a range of planned maintenance and unplanned works, plant improvement and modifications associated with mechanical engineering encompassing from Limestone Quarry till Packing Plants. You will also carry out complete proactive inspections and any required remedial repairs and monitor and manage equipment operation.

Job Accountabilities

1.       Plan, oversee and monitor maintenance activities in order to meet maintenance plan and maximize machine up-time.

2.       Update frequency for each maintenance task for optimal plant operation.

3.       Devise a plan for inspection, lubrication, cleaning and change of parts based on manufacturers’ recommendations, suppliers and professional expertise for timely problem detection and avoidance of equipment deterioration.

4.       Provide technical supports and follow-up of major and highly specialized maintenance jobs.

5.       Ensure that maintenance and operational tasks at the Plant are planned as per given specifications.

6.       Work in cross functional teams (Procurement, Manufacturing & Electrical) in order to improve and anticipate the opportunities for improving the efficiency and reliability if Plant machines.

7.       Coordinate with Procurement Department for the timely order and receipt of spare parts and equipment for the performance of maintenance work under his scope.

8.       Ensure all maintenance jobs are carried out in accordance with Plant SHE guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

1.       Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.

2.       Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience relating to maintenance crews.

3.       Minimum 6 years of experience in the management and maintenance of equipment and facilities at Cement plant.

4.       Certification in pneumatic, hydraulic and air compressor is an advantage.


Electrical/Instrument Engineer – Cement Plant, Malaysia

The Electrical/Instrument engineer will be responsible for managing electrical operations at the Plant and to ensure optimum performance and maintenance of all electrical equipment. The person will also responsible for keeping all instruments and related control systems in working order and within permissible limit of accuracy. The engineer should have proven experience in maintenance/troubleshooting of weigh feeders, gas analysers and all other field instruments used at cement plants.

Job Accountabilities

1.       Work closely with Process Engineers to analyze, improve and document all aspects of operations.

2.       Evaluate electrical systems, equipment, components and applications by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of electricity and materials.

3.       Prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, and electrical diagram to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and plant requirements.

4.       Source, purchase, evaluate and maintain required spare parts for plant operation.

5.       Source and purchase any replacement component, equipment and electrical systems that was obsolete.

6.       Design, test, maintain and improve the electrical equipment and electrical installations. E.g. design high voltage equipment, lighting and wiring systems, electrical motors (LV & MV), cable sizing, inverters, and motor starters.

Minimum Qualifications:

1.       Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.

2.       Minimum 6 years of experience in the management and maintenance of equipment and facilities at Cement plant.

 Process Engineer – Cement Plant, Malaysia

The Process Engineer will be responsible to work closely with the manufacturing team and lead operational staff in troubleshooting process problem. The incumbent must possesses an analytical mind focused on continual improvement based on fault identification, root cause analysis and improvements to operation methods, process and equipment so as to increase kiln and mill uptimes.

Job Accountabilities

1.       Maximize clinker production and plan cement grinding based on annual operating plan.

2.       Optimize Raw Mill, Coal Mill and Cement Mill operation and plan for off peak utilization.

3.       Prepare production report and other related reports on daily, weekly and monthly basis..

4.       Assist Head of Department in deciding on possible stoppage in the event of serious situation involving refractory lining failure or unstable kiln operation and significant deviation from predetermined quality parameters

5.       Manage manpower, machineries and raw materials effectively to achieve clinker output within quality target with respect to annual operating plan.

6.       Analyze daily production report and propose for plant improvements.

7.       Troubleshoot problems and plan for rectification.

8.       Ensure process maintenance is executed as per scheduled to minimize process downtime.

Minimum Qualifications:

1.       Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.

2.       Minimum 6 Years of experience in the cement plant (esp. Kiln, Mills, Cement Mills) is a MUST.

3.       Experienced and capable in troubleshooting problems using process measurements and analysis. Has attached to the Kiln and cement mill operating units as a Process Engineer.
